| What do you get when you cross Sandra Bullock as a straight-laced, by-the-book FBI agent and Bridesmaids' Melissa McCarthy as a slobby, foul-mouthed Boston cop? Director Paul Feig is hoping that the result is hilarity, and the first trailer for The Heat is now online. Check it out above or raid Apple's HQ for the HD version. The Heat finds Bullock as Sarah Ashburn, who despite her sterling reputation as one of the Bureau's best agents, is so inflexible in her approach that none of her colleagues like her much. But then she's assigned to Boston to help take down a ruthless drug lord and unwillingly teams up with detective Shannon Mullins (McCarthy), whose approach to law enforcement couldn't be more different. And yet these distinctly mismatched partners find something that works for each of them. Sure, it's a fairly well used concept, but the both behind the camera (with Feig working from Parks And Recreation writer Kate Dippold's script) and the cast in front of it (including Demian Bichir, Tony Hale, Taran Killam and Back To The Future's Biff himself, Tom Wilson) has us hopeful that it'll make for an entertaining romp. We get a slight Hot Fuzz vibe from the footage, which in our minds, is a positive. We'll find out for sure when it arrives on April 5. |
